The mortal remains of iconic female radio host, Maa Afia Konadu was laid to rest over the weekend.
Maa Afia Konadu officially known as Henrietta Twum started her career as a broadcaster with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation after quitting her job as a teacher. It was however with the Accra based Peace FM that she became a household name in Ghana.
Whilst hosting popular programmes such as ‘Wo haw ne sɛn’, ‘Mpom Te Sɛn’ and ‘Asomdwee NkomƆ, Maa Afia changed the way social issues are reported on Ghanaian radio and made impact far and wide. She won many admirers because of the finesse with which she spoke the Akan language on air.
After 15 years of service with Peace FM, she retired in 2015. On 1st May 2019, news came in that the celebrated presenter has passsed on, after a short illnes in the United States of America.
She was 68 years old.
