Radio Presenter fired over planned show with Opposition Politician

Aulogo FM’s Talk Show host, Amacha Goli has been directed to resign his position over a planned show that was set to feature Uganda’s opposition leader, Dr Kizza Besigye.

In the letter dated July 6th, the Management of the Radio Station wrote to the Host of the talk show seeking explanation on his intention to host the opposition politician.

“I hereby direct you to submit a written detailed explanation on the circumstances surrounding the planned radio talk show meant to host the Party President of the Forum for Democratic Change, Col Kizza Besigye and other officials which was stopped by the government security agencies and led to a scuffle at Aulogo Media Station”, the letter ordered.

Management proceeded to direct the host to quit his job “to pave way for investigations into the matter”.

“You are therefore required to handover to Programme Manager with immediate effect. You will be notified after receiving the document from you and carrying out investigations into the matter”.

The decision has since sparked intense social media debate in the Adjumani District, Uganda.
